An Intro To Dangerous Dougal On Mixcloud

A Bit About Sharing DJ Mixes

Sharing and Streaming DJ Mixes

As any DJ will tell you, finding a way to share their DJ mixes with friends, family, people all around the world and most importantly random ravers they meet out and about is right up their priority list.

I've been sharing DJ mixes for years. I started out with a Teac cassette deck, recording DJ mixes, labeling them up and handing them out here there and everywhere. Then came the mini disc. It hit me like a brick, being able to record in much higher quality, skip through mixes and take the player on the go. I could record mixes in clubs and carry discs in my bag. The mini disc was a revelation.

As is usual with technology these days, the humble mini disc faded into obscurity. I bought a Pioneer CD recorder and recorded mixes straight on to compact discs. This took me through to the digital era, handing out CDs which were more accessible to all that received them.

My History On DJ Mix Streaming Platforms

Finally I found myself creating an account on Soundcloud. It grew a high subscriber count quickly, along with copyright strikes too! In frustration at my creative outlets being pinched I shut the account down and jumped ship to where I am now, Mixcloud.

I've had my Mixcloud account a few years now and it's grown with me and my digital footprint. I've now uploaded over 50 DJ mixes to my page and I've come to find there are a few key reasons why it's my music streaming site of choice.

  • Mixcloud free- there are no charges with up to 10 free mix uploads
  • Mixcloud live streaming - Mixcloud has a great live streaming platform, both as a creator and a user
  • high standard of mixcloud Creators -  a simple search such on Mixcloud for John Digweed will reveal his Transitions shows. To find your content sharing a platform with industry greats shows where the platform is heading
  • Mixcloud is a licensed and legal platform - says it all really. no copyright issues
  • Mixcloud offers my fans a high quality listening experience - I can upload my mixes at high quality audio levels such as 160kbps on Mixcloud, not the usual mp3 320kps audio
  • the potential to earn money - I've upgraded to a 'Pro' account and activated the 'donate' feature. I am now in a position to accept donations. By this time next year I'll be a millionaire! No seriously, it's nice to know if what I do is appreciated by people, they can show it with a little love, in the form of cash : )
  • My DJ mixes are now accessible all over the world. I can access them when I'm travelling and so can you...

So, there you have it. A little bit about my account on Mixcloud.

The Next DJ Tech Revolution - Motorised Jog Wheels On DJ Controllers

DJing has come a long way since the days of vinyl records and turntables. Today's technology has pushed the boundaries of what's possible, bringing new levels of creativity and precision to the art of mixing. One of the most exciting developments in recent years is the rise of motorised jog wheels on DJ controllers. With the recent release of the Rane Performer the talk of motorised jog wheels has never been more prevalent. If you're a DJ or aspiring to become one, understanding this technology could be a game-changer for your performances.  What Are Motorised Jog Wheels? At its core, a jog wheel is a circular interface on a DJ controller used to manipulate the playback of music tracks. Traditionally, jog wheels are non-motorised, meaning they don't spin on their own. You have to manually move them to control the track. However, motorised jog wheels are different—they mimic the feel of a turntable platter by spinning like a vinyl record, offering a more authentic scratc...
