Pioneer DJ has recently released a number of new products that have made waves in the industry. Normally you get a Pioneer DJ product released here and there over the years, but for Pioneer to release so many products in such a short space of time DJ tech fans have had to take notice. There’s products here that have certainly divided opinion with both some positive and negative attention. So if your curious to learn more, feel free to dive in to my break down of what’s what.

As a bit of a DJ techie addict, I'm always on the lookout for new products that I think can elevate DJ performances in new and exciting ways. That's why I was excited when I heared about the recent offering from Pioneer DJ, the Pioneer DDJ-REV7. This new DJ controller is packed with features that make it a must-have for any scratch and performance DJ looking to up their game.

Pioneer DJ Opus Quad
Finally, Pioneer DJ have very recently released a product that most DJs following industry releases probably know about - the Pioneer DDJ Opus Quad.
This thing has caused quite a stir. For the low down on why, read on….
The Opus Quad is a new Pioneer DJ stand alone controller. It is obviously made from high-quality materials with a unique design that sets it apart from other DJ controllers on the market. The controller is built to last, and its sturdy construction ensures that it can withstand the rigours of frequent use. The key thing with the Pioneer Opus Quad though, is the look of it and the initial omission of one key feature.
The unusual design of the Opus Quad caught mine and everyone else’s attention immediately. The controller features a standard 4 deck layout with a four-channel mixer with jog wheels on each side. The controller also has a large central LCD screen that displays all the essential information DJs need to know, such as track title, artist, and waveform as well as further screens above each deck that displays deck information. It also however sports a minimalist look, and a design with features based on physical ease of use. The standout design choices are it’s angle sloped top (5 degrees), slightly angled sides and the minimal markings that make a statement that is far away from Pioneer DJs usual club look. The design has that professional look about it with a wooden looking front panel and sloped sides. It looks like a luxury product. The response? You either love it or hate it.
The Opus Quad comes with a range of new technologies that make it stand out from other DJ controllers on the market. One of the most impressive features is the 10” touch screen in the centre of the unit. This includes the usual access to track info, libraries and wave forms while also adding beat FX controls through touch. The unit also offers playback from USB flash drives, SSDs, computers and smart devices through it’s 4 x USB ports and bluetooth functionality. The key omission at launch that’s obviously coming soon though is that it has wifi but as yet no access to DJ streaming over wifi. Currently the wifi can only be used for dropbox and CloudLibrarySync access. DJ streaming functionality will presumably come in an update soon.
The Opus Quad uses Pioneer DJ's Rekordbox software, which is well-known for its user-friendly interface and advanced features.
